Step Two: Setting Up An Account

So, you have looked at some blogs, discussed the project with your adults and brought back your permission form. You are ready to set up a google account so that you can make comments.

  1. Click on File > New > Window (this means that you have 2 copies of this page open).
  2. In one of the windows, click on 'Sign In' at the top right hand corner of the page.
  3. Click the blue 'Sign In' button on the next page.
  4. On the following page click 'Create an account now' in the bottom right corner.
  5. Fill in the form that appears.
  6. For current email address use your TEL account (firstname.lastname@tel.tdsb.on.ca) . Type carefully - get your neighbour to check.
  7. For password use your class login password (first 6 letters of your teacher's name followed by 01. E.g., cotton01). DO NOT USE ANY OTHER PASSWORD.
  8. Re-enter the password carefully.
  9. Your display name is your first name and your last initial. E.g., Ebony B , Iqbal M . No other display names will be accepted.
  10. Word verification is difficult - do it with your neighbour, make sure you agree.
  11. Click on the 'I accept terms' box - a check mark will appear. Click 'Continue'.
  12. If the same screen comes again then it means that there are some things that you need to do again. Slow down, go carefully and ask your neighbour for help. You may have to do this many (more than 10) times. DO NOT CHANGE THE PASSWORD YOU USE.
  13. If the next screen is titled 'Name Your Blog' Click on the Red X.
  14. Check that you have been successful by clicking 'sign in' at the top right hand corner of this page. Use your tel account name and the password you created. If your account address appears at the top of the page you have succeeded
  15. Once you are successful, find other students who need help. Help them - but don't take over, they need to be touching the keyboard.
